Site Overview

Welcome to ShesConnected! As a member of our community, you'll be able to connect with other women in personal and professional circles, create and join groups, read articles from the web's top publishers, and plan events and to-dos. To get started, click on the tabs at the top of the screen.

Home is where you can check out what's happening in the entire ShesConnected community. Meet new members, check out featured groups and tools, and read up on featured articles on topics ranging from fashion to marriage to office politics to fitness.

Your My Page is the part of the site where you can manage everything specific to you and your activities on ShesConnected. You'll be able to see information about your profile, view your connections and see other members who are in your neighborhood. Your My Page is also the home of your Message Center, where you can get messages from other members and invitations to groups and events on the site.

On the left-hand side of the page, you'll find your control area, where you can edit all the elements of your ShesConnected account. You can switch between personal and professional profiles using the tabs at the top of the box. Then, you can edit your profile by clicking My Profile. Your profile will have the information that site visitors and your connections, or the people you're affiliated with on the site, will see.

Your privacy controls are all managed under the section called Privacy Settings. This is where you can choose what details on your profiles you want to be public or private based on who you want to see it. Information can be public, which means open to everyone, connections-only, which means that only site members who you know can see it, or private, which means that only you can see it.

Your Message Center is also accessible on this toolbar. Here, you can read notifications on invites you've received or updates that you've subscribed to on the site. You can also send messages to and receive messages from other members of the site. You can see how many new messages are waiting for you by looking at the number next to the link.

My Connections shows you all your connections through the site and allows you to browse through their profiles. You become connected with somebody when either they request to be connected with you and you accept, or you request to be connected with them and they accept. You can always refuse to be connected with another member if you don't feel comfortable with them seeing your connection-only information or if you don't know who they are in real life.

You can see which groups you belong to by clicking on My Groups. This will show you what's new with the groups you belong to.

You can upload photos and video to ShesConnected by clicking on My Photos & Videos. Once you've uploaded them, you can share them with your friends, family and connections.

Under My Journal, you can write a journal or blog on anything that strikes your fancy. Update as often as you want, and share your posts with whomever you want.

My Calendar manages all the events in your schedule, with an easy tool to keep everything in one place. You can put anything on your calendar, whether it relates to your own schedule or the schedules of your spouse or children. You can also share your calendar with your connections so that you can coordinate events.

My To Dos allows you to make a list of tasks you have to complete. You can access your to-do list later or share it with others.

My Articles shows you the articles you've marked on the site so that you can go back to them. If you find something interesting published on the site, you can mark it and view them under this section. Then, you can easily share them with connections and even people who aren't members of ShesConnected.

If you want to, you can send a message to another member by clicking on Send a Message. This message will be private and will go into her Message Center. If she replies, her message will go into your Message Center, and you'll be able to see that there is a message waiting for you when a number pops up next to the Message Center link.

Know a friend who would love to see ShesConnected and hasn't discovered it yet? Or is there someone who you want to connect with on the site but they're not a member yet? Just click on Invite a Friend and you can send an e-mail to all your friends asking them to join you!

By clicking Join a Group, you can search through groups to find one that relates to your interest. Once you find one you like, you can join with just a click of your mouse.

On the Members tab at the top of the page, you can search for other members in your neck of the woods or across the country. Connect with women who are going through the same life stages as you are, such as marriage, job search, or adoption, and it's easy to create a network of support and advice with other caring people by forming a group! Or find women who share your interests, from gardening to sky diving.

Click on the Groups tab and you'll be able to explore all the groups ShesConnected has to offer. If you don't find one that suits your particular interest, it's easy to create a new one yourself! Members of a group can write a blog, easily keep track of minutes from meetings, have a shared events calendar and to-do list, post photos and easily network with other members.

The Events section is where you can keep track of your busy schedule all in one place. It's easy to add anything to your calendar, from dentist appointments to dinner parties to Saturday's Little League game to your Friday afternoon coffee plans with your sister.

Under Articles, you can search for resources published in any of our 12 interest categories: Mind, Body & Soul; Fashion & Beauty; Love & Relationships; Fun & Entertainment; Home & Decorating; Money & Finance; Technology; Green; Giving Back; Cuisine; Family Life; and Work Life. Articles come from magazines and the talented online writers and bloggers on our ShesConnected Publishers Network.

Create a Profile

Women connect in lots of ways. You have specific needs depending on your work life and personal life and how they interact. At ShesConnected, you can create both personal and professional profiles, or choose just one.

You can allow them to be linked or completely separate, depending on how much you want your personal and professional lives to mesh. Strengthen business connections using your professional profile, where you can highlight your professional accomplishments and experience.

Meet and connect with people based on your hobbies and interests using your personal page, where you can showcase your family life, favorite activities, volunteer projects, and recreational time. Use both profiles as much or as little as you like, because ShesConnected gives you the opportunity to interact based on what's the most important to you.

Start a Group

ShesConnected makes it easy to interact with all the groups you're involved with in your everyday work and personal life.

Check out our Directory of Women's Organizations to see if your organization is listed, or create a group of your own!

Groups can be as big as national professional organizations or as small as your neighborhood running group. Connect based on interests, work, children and family, or political beliefs.

You can use your ShesConnected group page to communicate with other members of your group using shared messaging, calendars and to-dos, post discussion topics, easily keep minutes of meetings, and reach out to new members through our group directory. Get started by clicking the Groups tab above.
